DO I REALLY NEED A DESIGNER TO SEE MY BUILD THROUGH TO THE END?
Yes, yes and yes! What good is a beautiful design plan if it’s not executed well, or accurately?? In our opinion, the most important part of the process is actually the build portion. We communicate all the thousands of details by documenting with drawings that are handed over to the trades, and also verbally communicated, and then checked again during install. As a homeowner, decision fatigue can quickly set in and to have a team to take over for you is worth every penny. Preventing even one miscommunication during the build can ultimately save you our design fee!
HOW MUCH SHOULD I BUDGET FOR FURNISHINGS?
Every budget is different but before approaching a designer, at least know your max limit financially. We have a good, better, best spreadsheet we offer clients to give a great understanding of a range of costs. Here at TWID, we LOVE making custom pieces for our clients and we source trade pieces to ensure quality and a unique selection, but also like to mix in local vendors and chain store items for the finishing touches. HOW DO YOU CHARGE?
Our firm charges an hourly rate.
WHAT TYPE OF PROJECTS DO YOU TAKE ON?
We work on new builds, remodels, full home furnishings and single room full furnishings.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "FULL FURNISHING"?
This means selecting all furniture pieces and accessories in a space and may also include paint, millwork, built-ins, and lighting. We also like to incorporate meaningful pieces or family heirlooms (that fit the design aesthetic) to make your space feel like “you”!
WILL YOU JUST "PULL MY SPACE TOGETHER"?
We’ve found that the time we invest in pulling a space together with pieces here and there ends up not being a worthwhile financial investment for our clients. It usually takes at least two to three times as long to work with existing pieces than if we were to start from scratch. For this reason, we only work on full room or full home furnishings.
WHAT TYPE OF DESIGN FIRM ARE YOU?
We work on residential and small boutique commercial projects. We are design enthusiasts who thrive on details and curating unique, one of a kind client inspired spaces. We are laid back, flexible, and fun - but are also sticklers on execution, details, budget, and timelines! We are not a “quick, throw anything together” firm because great design takes time! We look for clients with the same type of personality and goals because that’s what makes for a stellar team.
